We started with a simple observation: the hardest part of importing from India was never the product — it was everything around it. The forms, the licences, the labels, the clearances, the hand-offs.

So we built a company that owns the whole journey. In India, our team sources directly from farms and artisan workshops, checks quality at origin, packs and labels to UK standards, and clears export customs. In the UK, our partner companies handle import declarations, port handling and final delivery. We have cleared shipments into the UK by both air and sea.

How the export is routed depends on the goods. Some orders ship on Britbasket's own registrations. Others ship on the producer's — where a mill, food manufacturer or workshop is the exporter of record and holds the category licences for what it makes, we buy and coordinate rather than re-invoice through our own books. It is a normal merchant structure, and it is why our range can run from mangoes to rugs without either being a compromise. We tell you which route an order is on before it moves, because it decides whose name appears on the certificates and who signs the origin declaration.

We can act as importer of record through our UK partners and sell the goods on to you inland, or ship to you as the importer and lodge the entry as your agent — both are on offer, and which one suits you is a conversation about VAT recovery and control, not a limitation on our side.
